BIO

Jesús Rodríguez López graduated in Economics at Seville University (1992), is Master in Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1997) and earned his PhD. at Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla (2003). From 1997, he is Professor at the Department of Economics of Universidad Pablo de Olavide. His main field of research deals with Dynamic Macroeconomics: fluctuations, investment specific technological progress, exchange rate regimes, energy consumption, etc. He has explored other issues: road accidents and behavioral economics. His last publications include articles in Macroeconomic Dynamics, Energy Economics, The Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and SERIES. He has been visiting fellow at the University of Minnesota (2009, 2010, and 2011), the European University Institute (2004). Shorter visits include the Department of Economics at The University College of London (December 2021, June 2022) and the Macalester College at Saint Paul, Minnesota (April-May 2018).

For more than 25 years, his teaching experience goes from Introduction to Economics, Microeconomics to Macroeconomics. More recently, he teaches special syllabi on Monetary Policy and Financial Institutions, and Business Cycle Models.

He has collaborated as associate researcher of IVIE (Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas), and has been economist advisor of Junta de Andalucía, Consejería de Hacienda (2010, 2008), and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (2007). He has been member of several scientific and academic committees: Simposio de Análisis Económico (41st, Bilbao 2016; 42nd, Barcelona 2017; 43rd, Madrid 2018; 44th, Alicante 2019; 47th, Valencia); AEEFI (XIX, Palma de Mallorca, 2018); ASSET Meeting (Granada, November 2015); Program Ramón y Cajal and Juan de La Cierva (2016).

During the last decade, he has diversified his lines of research into five topics:

  1. Fiscal multipliers: 1 publication Macroeconomic Dynamics (wp version).
  2. Business cycles and small firm dynamics over the business cycle: 5 publications: Macroeconomic Dynamics, Telecommunication Policy, Japan and the World Economy, and The B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics.
  3. Fuel taxation, utilization and replacement of vehicles (diesel versus gasoline) and CO2 emissions using Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models (DSGE): 3 publications (Energy Economics, SERIEs and Energy Policy).
  4. Analysis on the relation between energy use, energy-mix and economic growth: 1 publication (Energy Economics).
  5. Road accidents, business cycles, behavioral economics (alcohol consumption, and deterrence effects of the Penalty Point System): 3 publications: Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, AAP1 y AAP2.
