BIO

Jesús Rodríguez López graduated in Economics at Seville University (1992), is Master in Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1997) and earned his PhD. at Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla (2003). From 1997, he has been working at the Department of Economics of Universidad Pablo de Olavide. His main field of research deals with Dynamic Macroeconomics: fluctuations, firm dynamics, fiscal policy and informality, exchange rate regimes, energy consumption, road accidents and behavioral economics. His last publications include articles in Journal of Productivity Analysis, Macroeconomic Dynamics, The Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Energy Economics and SERIES.

Currently, Prof. Rodríguez López has three research terms (3 sexenios). He has been visiting fellow at the University of Minnesota (2009, 2010, and 2011), the European University Institute (2004). Shorter visits include the University of Pennsylvania (February 2025), and the Macalester College (Saint Paul, Minnesota, April-May 2018). He has received financial support for these stays through postdoctoral fellowships from the Spanish Government and the Andalusian Government (Ayudas para el Perfeccionamiento de Investigadores 2004 for the EUI; and Becas de Excelencia for the U. of Minnesota in 2009; and financial support from several projects and from Grupo de Investigación SEJ246).

He has five teaching terms (5 quinquenios). Moreover, he has obtained positive evaluations at students quarterly regular evaluations for his teaching and from DOCENTIA (2018-2022). For over 30 years, his teaching experience has ranged from Introduction to Economics and Microeconomics to Macroeconomics. During the last 12 years, he teaches special syllabi on Monetary Policy, and Business Cycle Models, at the Degree in Economic Analysis of UPO. At UPO, he coordinates core undergraduate modules in the 4th year of the Degree in Economic Analysis at UPO. He has been assistant teacher of Prof. Albert Marcet in two courses on Macroeconomics and SVAR (1998) and Bayesian Econometrics (2002). He has taught Master-level courses on Macroeconomics and SVAR at UPO, UNIA and Universidad de Málaga. He has supervised several TFG’s and supervised three master’s theses. Recently, he has started the supervision of Ph.D. Thesis at the UPO Doctorate Program.

He has collaborated with the Spanish Macroeconomic Network (SMN), and in October 2023 he was chairman of the organizing committee of the VI Workshop of the SMN. He was President of the Organizing Committee of the XVIII Jornadas de Economía Internacional AEEFI, UNIA La Rábida (Huelva), 2017. He has collaborated as associate researcher of Ivie (Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas), and has been economist advisor of Junta de Andalucía, Consejería de Hacienda (2010, 2008), and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (2007). He has been member of several scientific, academic committees, Ph.D. Dissertation Commitees: Simposio de Análisis Económico (2016; 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022); Jornadas AEEFI (2017, 2018); ASSET (2015); Program Ramón y Cajal and Juan de La Cierva (2016).
