Agencia Andaluza de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo cofounds CEI CamBio’s project in Panama

As established in Resolución de 22 de marzo de 2012, Agencia Andaluza de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AACID) has approved a grant of €450,000 for the development of project ‘Nodo Andaluz del Centro de Medio Ambiente y Conservación de la Biodiversidad en Panamá’, for the implementation of the agreement signed between AACID and Universidad Pablo de Olavide – coordinator of CEI CamBio – concerning the development of a specific international cooperation for development programme.

With this project, CEI CamBio consolidates its position and increases the resources shared with the CEIs Studii Salamantini and Health Universitat de Barcelona Campus HUBc, for the establishment of their premises in Panama and the reinforcement of already existing links with the Espacio Iberoamericano del Conocimiento. The project has already been funded by Ministerio de Educación, Programa Campus de Excelencia Internacional (CEI), with 1.3 million Euros.

CamBio’s premises in Panama are strategically located in the ‘Ciudad del Saber’, which has already become a centre of international excellence for research, innovation and education, and which includes the Tecnoparque Internacional de Panamá, a business park with long experience in the promotion of innovation and transference of research knowledge and results, as well as a business accelerator. Their model has inspired a number of projects linked to CEI CamBio.

The ‘Ciudad del Saber’ is located in the Áreas Revertidas, adjacent to the Canal de Panamá, in the former American military base of Clayton, and hosts tens of organisations jointly committed to the comprehensive development of Latin America. Among these organisations, with which CamBio will share premises and will closely cooperate, the following must be highlighted: Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo; Health Research Internacional; Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura; Secretaria General Iberoamericana; and Fondo Internacional para el Desarrollo Agrícola; Centro Internacional de Desarrollo Sostenible.
