This professorship was created after the initiative of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Chancellor of the University of Córdoba. It is intended that this position become a teaching and research reference for professionals and academics involved in the analysis of conflict resolution.

Its specific targets are: to develop educational programmes for the peaceful solution of armed conflicts through the application of prevention, intervention and reconstruction policies; the management of specific solutions to emerging conflicts; to develop psycho-educative skills in personal, interpersonal, social, collective and political situations of crisis; and education in social, cultural, economic, institutional and environmental reconstruction.
