CamBio will launch an international employment portal

It will include job offers, but also information on scholarships, entrepreneurial culture and training programmes for the CEI community.

The Campus de Excelencia Internacional de Medio Ambiente, Biodiversidad y Cambio Global (CEI CamBio), supported by the universities of Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, Internacional de Andalucía, Jaén and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), under the coordination of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, is working on the creation of a portal aimed at the identification of job opportunities at the international level. The main beneficiaries will be the members of the CEI community, that is, university and technical college students, alumni, researchers and teaching staff.

This virtual space will include job offers and all kinds of information as to how to improve employability, entrepreneurial and self employment opportunities, along with training programmes for alumni and lecturers and information about scholarships and national and international mobility programmes.

The portal will focus on opportunities related to CamBio’s areas of specialisation, which will be fuelled by the project’s partner organisations and other national and international agents with which CamBio has created preferential cooperation channels, such as foreign universities and companies. The CEI has established preferential partnerships with some of the main multinational companies and several firms included in the IBEX 35.

The portal will be externally evaluated by several specialised organisations, also part of the coalition, for example Andalucía Emprende, the Agencia Andaluza de Promoción Exterior (EXTENDA), the Centro de Innovación y Transferencia de Tecnología de Andalucía (CITAndalucía), the Agencia de Innovación y Desarrollo de Andalucía (IDEA), the Confederación de Empresarios de Andalucía (CEA), the Consejo Andaluz de Cámaras de Comercio, Industria y Navegación and the Fundación Carolina, among others.

This project is part of the CEI’s plan for the promotion of employability and entrepreneurship, and also includes a specialised programme for practical training and the creation of a Centro de Alto Rendimiento para Emprendedores.

In this regard, Pilar Paneque, director of CamBio, says that ‘these initiatives are ultimately aimed at improving the employment perspectives and the professional success of our alumni, and they require our universities to work towards the promotion of an entrepreneurial, creative and innovative culture.’

The creation of this portal for the identification of opportunities is also related to the CEI’s decided bid for the full development of IT potentialities. In this regard, and among other actions, the dissemination of research results in open access repositories, the improvement of IT proficiencies and infoaccessibility, and the creation of an e-learning platform adapted to portable devices, must be highlighted.
