A new publication analyses the role of local welfare policies on health inequalities by applying multi-level modelling. The article shows local expenditure oriented towards social policies in Spanish municipalities reduces social inequalities in health. The overlapping hypothesis and methodology in the paper propose an approach to o analyse the role of the sub-national government level in welfare regimes effects from a comparative and multi-scalar perspective.
