The DIHIS group gathered together once again in Alicante (Spain) in October 2022 to present their contributions in a joined panel called “Identidades digitales en el mundo hispanoblante” (RECOD conference: IV Congreso Internacional RECOD: En torno a la comunicación digital en español: cultura participativa y discurso en la red).

The topics, which ranged from feminism to Latino identity in the US, aimed to contribute to the growing body of existing research in relation to social media. The participants talked about Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Airbnb, and BlaBlaCar, all of them social sites in which users participate by creating content.

More specifically, the DIHIS group members talked about different issues that are of increasing interest to researchers, such as gender identity in Amazon reviews (Carlos De Pablos Ortega), female empowerment on Instagram (Lucía Fernández Amaya), Latino identity online (Pilar Garcés Conejos Blitvich and Patricia Bou Franch), metacommunication online (María de la O Hernández López), self-presentation online (Carmen Maíz Arévalo) and epistemic attacks online (Manuel Padilla Cruz), and rapport management on Airbnb (Patricia Díaz Muñoz).
