Robert Szymyślik

Robert Szymyślik is a part-time lecturer in the Department of Languages and Translation at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, teaching on the Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting, on the Double Degree in Humanities and Translation and Interpreting and on the Double Degree in Translation and Interpreting and International Relations. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Translation and Interpreting at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in 2012, receiving the prize for the Best Academic Record. In 2013 he earned a Master’s Degree in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting and in 2019 he defended his Ph.D. thesis, centred on the study of translation problems associated with narrative fictional worlds. He received the X Premio de Traducción Francisco Ayala (German-Spanish) in 2015 and the II Premio Complutense de Traducción Universitaria «Valentín García Yebra» (Polish-Spanish) in 2019. He also works as an editorial and literary translator and as a liaison and simultaneous interpreter between German, English, Polish, and Spanish.

Main fields of research: audiovisual translation, comic book translation, fantasy narrative, fictional worlds, literary translation, science fiction narrative, translation problems, video game translation.
