Marta González García de Paredes

She holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Granada, and a degree in Political Science from the University of Granada and Sciences Po Bordeaux (France). Since February 2023 she is an Assistant Professor at the Pablo de Olavide University (Political Science Area, Department of Public Law). Previously, she was a lecturer in the Department of International Studies at the Universidad Loyola Andalucía. Her doctoral thesis, which was defended in 2021, addressed the phenomenon of youth representation through the adoption of parliamentary quotas, through which she carried out extensive fieldwork in the Moroccan parliament between 2016 and 2019. This research was carried out thanks to an FPI grant (2016-2020) that she carried out at IESA-CSIC in Cordoba directed by Thierry Desrues and linked to two research projects of the National Plan I+D+I on youth and political representation in North Africa (CSO2017-84949-C3-2-P and CSO2014-52998-C3-2-P). Currently, the results of this work have been published in issue 327 of the CIS series “Monografías”. She has also carried out research stays in Morocco and Norway, has collaborated with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and has published articles in journals such as Representation, The Journal of Modern African Studies, The Journal of North African Studies, La Revista de Estudios Internacionales Mediterráneos (REIM) and L'Année du Maghreb. Between 2019 and 2020 she also codirected the political affairs chronicle on Morocco for the magazine L'Année du Maghreb, and is currently a member of the magazine's editorial board, as well as an Associate Editor for the journal World Food Policy.
