Ideological congruence, politicians and citizenship

The purpose of this project is to obtain information on the perception that citizens have of politicians and parliamentary activity in order to study the ideological congruence between voters and political representatives in Spain. For this purpose, the data obtained through the proposed module will be used along with the data from the project "Political elites in the Spain of the autonomies" that studies the preferences of Spanish parliamentarians (in the Congress, the Senate and the Autonomous Parliaments). From the comparison between both databases, ideological congruence can be studied systematically for the first time in the context of the Spain of autonomies. For this, the methods of analysis of congruence proposed by the literature that focus on the comparison of the preferences distributions of voters and political representatives will be applied. The variables included in the proposed module include three blocks: perceptions about politicians and parliamentary activity, political preferences and attitudes towards the territorial organization of the state.
