Luis Navarro Ardoy

Doctorate in Sociology from the University Pablo de Olavide of Seville and professor since 2007 in the Department of Sociology. I teach in the Degree of Sociology and in the Double Degrees of Sociology and Political Science and Sociology and Social Work, mainly subjects of methodological character and data analysis and basic skills of the sociologist. I have received 38 courses oriented to university teaching training and theoretical and methodological specialization. I obtained the qualification of outstanding cum laude unanimously for the thesis La nación evitada. Identidad nacional en España y discursos de élites de izquierda (2016). I am the President of the Practical Sociological Research Committee at the Spanish Federation of Sociology where we are promoting audiovisual projects for the dissemination of sociology and the sociology profession.

My research areas focus on the study of nationalism and national identity, crime and citizen insecurity, rural development, evaluation of public policies and dissemination of sociology and how to improve our communication with the general public. I have been a speaker at more than 30 national and international conferences.

I have participated in the research projects “Nacionalismo español: discursos y praxis desde la izquierda, 1982-2008”, “Regional Manifestos Projet”, “Protesta y cambio electoral. Una exploración a partir de las encuestas del CIS”, “Empleo y programas de desarrollo rural integrados: Una visión subnacional”, “Evaluación del enfoque de género de la política de desarrollo rural en Andalucía” and “Estrategias para la difusión y divulgación de la sociología y su contribución a la sociedad”.

From 2002 to the present, I have published opinion articles in print and digital media, among others, Diario de Sevilla, eldiraio.es, elplural.com and ssociologos.com.

My academic career has gone hand in hand with positions of responsibility in public administration (cabinet technician of the Councilor for Equality and Social Welfare and coordinator of analysis and monitoring of the Office of the Government Spokesperson) and consulting work for public institutions and private research companies. I have worked for CIMOP Comunicación, Imagen y Opinión Pública, Grupo ASM Análisis y Servicios de Marketing, Fundación Luis Vives, Instituto de España, Universidad Complutense and Universidad de Granada. Also for other entities as a volunteer in Scotland (Grampian Regional Equality Council and Aberdeen International Centre) and in Colombia (Corporación colombiana para la prevención del alcoholismo y la farmacodependencia).
