
Dr. Julia Lobato Patricio has worked since 2009 at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), where she holds a position as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages and Translation. In 2004, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from University of Granada (UGR); and in 2008 her PhD degree on a thesis titled Aspectos deontológicos y profesionales de la traducción jurídica, jurada y judicial, on legal, sworn and court translation, from University of Malaga (UMA). With her doctoral thesis she earned the Outstanding Doctorate Award.
She has worked as a lecturer in degree, master and doctorate programmes in several national and international universities (University of Malaga, Autonomous University of Madrid, Université de Rennes 2, University of Evora, University LUISPIOV of Rome, etc.). She has participated in mobility periods in prestigious centres before and after obtaining her PhD. She has published articles, book’s chapters in indexed journals and editorials with national and international scope: ALFINGE, Revista de Filología (University of Cordoba), AdVersuS, Revista de Semiótica (Argentina), TRANS (University of Malaga), TRADUIRE (SFT, Francia), TONOS DIGITAL, Revista Electrónica de Estudios Filológicos (University of Murcia), ÇEDILLE–revista de estudios franceses, Comares (Granada), Atrio (Granada), Peter Lang (Germany) and Cambridge Scholars Publishing. She has also been author and co-author of three monographs. Since 2004, she has taken part in research projects on legal and sworn translation, professional practice and ethical dimension of translation and interpreting, and the didactics of translation and interpreting, as well as in other eight teaching innovation projects. Since 2005, she has worked as a Sworn Translator-Interpreter authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From 2005 to 2017, she was a member of the research group HUM-767: Traducción, Comunicación y Lingüística Aplicada, on translation, communication and applied linguistics. Since 2017, she has been a member of the research group HUM-996: Interglosia (Procesos de Comunicación Intercultural), on intercultural communication.
