Abstract: What urban regeneration is?, how urban regeneration projects are developed?, what are their impacts on neighborhoods? To respond to this question the presentation sustains two premises. First, from an analytical perspective, previous to the analysis of the impact of urban regeneration projects the explanatory mechanisms behind the design and implementation of urban regeneration process has to been analyzed. Second, impact evaluation has to be developed from a comparative perspective applying quasi-experimental designs. Empirical examples about the impact of different kind of mechanism in governance processes and different kind of policy sectors are presented showing the importance of the combinations between policy frames and territorial contexts as crucial explanatory variables of urban regeneration impacts.
