The Department
About the Department of Sociology
The Department of Sociology was set up in February 2013, having previously been a section within the Department of Social Sciences, and prior to that, within the Department of Social Sciences and Social Work.
The Department of Sociology teaches on Degree Courses offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Experimental Sciences, and the Faculty of Sports, as well as on various Postgraduate courses. As well as providing teaching on specific degree courses, such as the Degree in Sociology, the dual honours degrees of Sociology and Politics, and Sociology and Social Work, it also teaches on various other degrees offered by different faculties within Universidad Pablo de Olavide.
The Department’s lecturers and researchers participate actively in national and international calls for projects and competitions, and also engage in knowledge transfer by setting up contracts and agreements with various entities. The Department’s Research Seminar publicises the research findings of the Department as well as other visiting researchers. There are also training courses offered in research methodology and skills for members of the Department, delivered by special guests from other institutions.
