Abstract

The goal of this work is to identify key and strategic sectors for the development of economies at regional level. Therefore we develop a methodology analysis of key sectors using social accounting matrix instead of the traditional input-output tables. Presented this methodology, we apply it to the cases of: Andalusia and Extremadura, Objective Regions 1 in European Union for the European Structural Funds; also Madrid and Catalonia, to be the regions with more regional GDP in Spain; and finally to Spain, so that it serves as paradigm or base to carry out a comparative analysis.
