The evident absence of women in significant cultural contexts represents a discriminatory phenomenon that can no longer be overlooked. This study aims to examine some of the factors, primarily linked to the dynamics of gender and power, that have historically contributed to the exclusion of women from crucial areas of cultural creation. The objective of the analysis is to gain a more detailed understanding of the female role, which is still widely underestimated, in the contemporary cultural landscape. Numerous elements have hindered the success of women, especially in the fields of art and literature. Firstly, the concept of genius, laden with strong androcentric and individualistic values, has shaped unrealistic historical figures that do not account for the true dynamics leading to success or failure in artistic creation processes. The limited access to education, prevalent at least until the 20th century, prevented women from acquiring the necessary training to develop their talents and integrate into professional and creative environments. Secondly, the spread of misogynistic discourses, more or less explicit, originating from the same cultural sectors, discouraged those who tried to enter contexts perceived as hostile or forced them to hide behind male names or pseudonyms. Moreover, much of the female artistic production has not been redeemed by historical narrative, further impoverishing the female cultural heritage. Finally, the establishment of an androcentric and exclusive cultural canon has consistently marginalized women's contributions. The conclusions highlight the need for a paradigm shift, so that the contribution of women to cultural and artistic life can finally be fully appreciated.
