Abstract

This paper intends to carry out an analysis of Euripides’ tragedy brought to the cinema by the European film director Michael Cacoyannis. For this purpose, it has been essential to consult specialized literature and to review Cacoyannis’ film trilogy. The work will present two chapters which address, firstly, classical heritage nowadays and its prevalence in the contemporary world, and secondly, Cacoyannis’ view on Euripides’ tragedy.
