Furniture is a necessity in modern life, both for individual and social activities. Its production demands a large amount of resources and manufacturers have worked to mitigate its environmental impacts. This study investigated whether the characteristics of these sustainable products influence consumers' purchasing decisions. 1,756 surveys, with closed questions, were applied in Colombia, Argentina, El Salvador and Mexico, within the framework of aspects related to the purchase of wooden furniture for the home. They were analyzed using a multinomial logit model that revealed that the probability of purchasing furniture from companies committed to recovery and recycling increases when the buyer is a woman, has completed graduate school, and has a high income. This information can help companies design communication campaigns to strengthen their presence in these segments and attract others.
