The purpose of this article is to reflect on sexual violence from a critical approach to the category of victim. For this purpose, firstly, a contextualization of the main perspectives that have placed the approach of traumatization and victimization is carried out. That approach directly anchors in situations of gender based violence and, more specifically, of sexual violence. Secondly, some observations are made on the dominant paradigm in understanding sexual violence and the consequences of this framework within the diversity of psychological, social and cultural processes involved.
