El Mapuzugun desde el Pensamiento Mapuche: Pasado, presente y futuro

Resumen

En este artículo se destaca la importancia del mapuzugun para la mantención de la cultura mapuche en la actualidad destacando los conocimientos tradicionales. Además explica el abandono del idioma producto de la discriminación racial presente en las políticas y sociedad chilena. Se destaca la labor de los poetas que aportan a la escritura del idioma, no obstante, también se señala que hay falta de consenso en el alfabeto que se emplea, abogando por la unificación de la escritural. El movimiento de revitalización de la lengua además de incentivar el aprendizaje del idioma a nivel organizacional ha demandado la oficialización del idioma, lo que ha sido posible en las comunas de Galvarino y en Padre las Casas. Destaca la tarea de los jóvenes que se juntan para hablar mapuzugun, a través de lo cual es posible proyectar un futuro mejor para la vida del idioma.

This paper addresses the importance of Mapuzugun in the maintaining of the Mapuche culture in present days, by means of highlighting their traditional knowledge. In view of this, it aims at linking the abandonment of the language with the racial discrimination that subsists both in Chilean politics and society. It further intends to outline the role of poets as well as their contribution towards the writing of the language. Nonetheless, this paper also stresses the issue of a lack of consensus as far as the alphabet is concerned, in a context of unification of spelling. Therefore, it argues that this revitalization movement of the Mapuzugun language not only encourages learning the language on an organizational level, but it also entails its official acknowledgement; something that was possible in the communes of Galvarino and Padre las Casas. By doing so, this article brings the agency of the youths into light, thanks to which it is possible to forecast a better future for the life of the Mapuzugun language.
