Abstract

This paper deals with the figure of the architect Juan de Aranda Salazar (1605-1654) and highlights his influence as a major representant of Classicism in XVII c. Spanish Architecture. It goes on to study the author’s role as representing the best estereotomic tradition of Andalusian Renaissance, Which earns him many invitations to intervene in architectural projects in Toledo and Cadiz. More precisely, This paper looks into his contribution on Puerto de Santa María Church based on some of his drawings.
