The disruption of digital businesses and non-financial services in Commercial Banking in Colombia post-pandemic: An analysis of the impact of the diversification strategy on value generation

This article aims to analyze the impact of the disruption of new digital businesses and non-financial services on the value generation of financial institutions measured through EVA. To this end, the analysis was approached in two stages: In the first, a multiple linear regression model was built to identify the business variables that impact the EVA of the QR adoption strategy as a digital payment method. In the second, a multiple linear regression model was fitted to determine the extent to which the variables identified in the first stage can explain the total EVA of the entity. The article considered data from a financial institution in Colombia in which the adoption of these strategies is recent, so assessing their impact on value generation represents a contribution for managers and academics. It was found that the strategy's return on equity, measured through ROE, positively affects the financial entity's value generation.
