This research focuses on the study of women's labor during the settlement of the Colony of Nuevo
Santander, a territory conquered in the mid-18th century. It is based on primary sources such
as the 1757 General State of Foundations Report by Captain Tienda de Cuervo, along with the
1790 population census of Mexico City. Through a comparative analysis of both documents,
the study identifies patterns of invisibilization and bias in the recording of women’s work,
revealing their crucial yet underrecognized role in the colonial economy and society. The
research offers a critical interpretation of documentary silences, considering the structural
limitations of the sources within their historical context
