Keywords:
In recent years, more and more artists seek to integrate not only historical documents in their works –generally linked to micro-histories– but also a broader historical, even historiographical, imprint. Thus, through various formal strategies, these artists seek, to ‘make history’ instead of just creating illustrations of it through their images. This article seeks to reflect on this ‘making of history’, which is supported also through work carried out from memory, from contemporary artistic practices through the analysis of works that address violence in Latin America. In this context, we will be discussing works from different media and formats by artists Fernando Brito, Beatriz González and León Ferrari.
