Just Arrived: Comercio de maderas centroamericanas desde los periódicos estadounidenses, 1790-1840

El artículo explora, a partir de las noticias publicadas en periódicos estadounidenses, la presencia de comerciantes norteamericanos en los territorios del Caribe centroamericano a finales del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX. Los diarios de la costa este de los Estados Unidos dan cuenta de la llegada de naves cargadas con maderas centroamericanas a los puertos norteamericanos para su venta en el mercado local o su reexportación a mercados europeos. Las fuentes permiten examinar como se desarrollaba ese comercio y de paso, analizar cómo se fueron construyendo los primeros contactos comerciales entre los Estados Unidos y lo que posteriormente se convertiría en los estados centroamericanos, durante un período de tiempo que ha sido poco examinado por la historiografía.
