Abstract

Big workshops, by their very essence, obscure the hand of the individual artists. Pedro Perez’s contribution to the facade of the Cathedral in Murcia as a member of Jaime Bort’s team is a clear example. Born in Alicante and trained with Juan Bautista Borja, he produced reports with Francisco Salzillo and received commissions for monumental, processional and devotional sculptures as well as and other works. This paper studies his artistic environment and provides new documents, specially his will and inventory of assets, that give us an insight into his life and professional trajectory.
