Abstract

In this paper we provide a brief summary of the historical, political
and legal issues that have influenced the development of new religious social
movements in our country. We present data from Spain in the second part of
step century as to the historical situation marked by the Franco dictatorship
and the subsequent arrival of democracy; we review the changes in the
legal framework, since the enactment of the Fuero de los Españoles and the
Second Vatican Council to the Organic Law 7/1980 of 5 July on Religious
Freedom.
