Clase, racialización y poder: Una etnografía del golf en México

El presente artículo utiliza una etnografía de exclusivos clubes de golf en México para analiza la reproducción de inequidades sociales en esta nación. El texto describe la manera en la que las dinámicas de clase generan procesos de inclusión y exclusión entre las clases medía alta y alta que constituyen estos clubes deportivos. Sin embargo, de forma novedosa, el estudio muestra que las inequidades sociales en México no sólo operan bajo patrones de clase. El artículo aborda la manera en que las nociones racializadas y los esquemas epidérmicos también son utilizados para generar distinciones jerárquicas. La incorporación de este argumento permite generar un análisis más complejo de la manera en que los procesos de dominación y subordinación funcionan en México. El argumento desarrollado en el artículo tiene profundas implicaciones para el estudio de las inequidades, ya que no sería posible entender la exclusión social simplemente analizando las estructuras de clase. Bajo esta novedosa perspectiva, temas como la pobreza y la riqueza estarían tan influenciados por asuntos económicos como por temas raciales (y racistas) en América Latina.
