Abstract

The archangel Saint Michael, designed by the Flemish painter Martin de Vos, was one of the most successful compositions in the different territories of the Spanish Empire. Its wide diffusion, both in the Iberian Peninsula and the American viceroyalties, was possible thanks to the engravings produced in Flanders.
