Abstract

The architect of altarpieces Luis Ortiz de Vargas realized the chairs of choir of the Cathedral of Malaga and than he returned to Seville where Ramirez de Arellano constructed an altarpiece  (retablo) for the chapel of family Ramirez de Arellano in San Bartolomé's church (1641 – 1643). In this altarpiece, that it stay without polychromatic, the artist it test architectural formulae more new that the used by his contemporaries, creating depth in the central street and break of the horizontal division of the bodies and applying a decoration of great volume (cartelas, angels, children, etc.).His design he inspired in the front of Palladio´s teatrise (Venice, 1570).
