Abstract

This article is about Maria Manrique de Lara Figueroa, a noble humanist whose artistic culture turn her into a capital person to promote the Renaissance in Andalusia and Italy during the first decades of 16th century. The published and unpublished documents, show the importance of the Duchess in a masculine world. Her exceptional personality, advanced for her age and admired in Spain, France and Italy, allowed for her using literature, culture, art and social networks to improve her lineage headed with Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba, the Great Captain. Everything becomes a reality in an extraordinary artistic legacy and praise her to the skies as one of the most important patrons of the Renaissance in Grenade.
