Abstract

In February 2015 , European Committee for Home-Based Priority Action for the Child and the Family (EUROCEF)  submitted to the European Committee of Social Rights a collective complaint against France for non-compliance with its commitments under of the European Social Charter, as regards the reception and accompaniment of unaccompanied foreign minors arriving in French territory.

The decision of the European Committee of Social Rights considering violation of several provisions of the European Social Charter, and the subsequent Resolution of the Committee of Ministers, should lead France to reconsider its reception and accompaniment of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors, both from the point of view of their regulation and the practices in use.

This position of the European authorities is of course a challenge to France, but especially reminds all Europeans that the European Social Charter is one of the most important instruments for the defense and promotion of social rights of minorities.
