The border as a concept from human vulnerability

Abstract

The following article aims to present two central themes for understanding the importance of citizenship and the consequences of lacking it. To this end, a reflection has been made on the functioning of citizenship within states, referring to the figure of the foreigner as a stranger who seeks to integrate into the society they arrive in and their attempt to belong to this new social nucleus. Likewise, once the importance of this figure from a political perspective has been established, it is juxtaposed with the deconstruction of the concept of necropolitics (the sovereign right of a State to justify violence and death), a category that functions as a tool within the migration policies of States to stop or reduce the consequences of migration in countries that are affected by this phenomenon to confront it with applied ethics in which an effort is made to return to the migrant the humanity that has been lost due to the practice of migration policies that have been naturalized by societies that are immersed in a utilitarian system and neoliberalism, in which the human being only takes on importance insofar as he or she is beneficial to the state and the society to which he or she belongs. It is about highlighting the impact of ethics within societies today and the importance that should be attached to redirecting dialogue and discussions about humanitarian crises with respect to migration phenomena.
