Active citizen participation in decision-making is one of the fundamental factors for increasing the legitimacy of democracy. By engaging in deliberative processes that affect society, citizens gain a greater sense of belonging and connection with the democratic system. Currently, deliberative democracy has been established as a solid and reliable approach to political decision-making through a public, fair, and reasoned debate among citizensIn a context of increasing political polarization and distrust towards democratic institutions and public authorities, the promotion of deliberation and public discussion processes is more necessary than ever. For this reason, the research focuses on the approach of deliberative minipublics through a Case Study, seeking to update, modernize, and deepen the equality of all citizens, bringing representatives closer to the represented and establishing an inclusive, egalitarian, strong, and solid communication channel in the institutional decision-making process. Specifically, this article analyzes the "Constitutional Reform of Ireland through the Citizens' Assembly of Ireland during the period 2016-2018." It aims to understand how and why this Citizens' Assembly is considered a successful model of deliberative democracy, capable of achieving a significant change in Irish politics concerning access to voluntary termination of pregnancy.
