Ellacuría's unpublished texts on the subject of the history - a topic Habermas was studying at the time Ellacuría was writing his Political Theology back in 1972- marks a landmark in Ellacuría's more autonomous and philosophical production as far as the great masters (Hegel, Marx, Ernst Bloch and Xavier Zubiri) are concerned. Idealist reductionism surpassed, it was necessary to revisit not just things (Husserl) but reality (Zubiri) and, furthermore, historical reality in its complex evolution (Ellacuría). Answering the question posed by subject of the history (once the analysis of the operating forces had already been dealt with) is a fundamental milestone for historical praxis in a perspective of future. Ellacuría tries to incorporate the political exigency of creating truth within the historical reality to the philosophical quest for truth itself.
