Abstract

This article collects part of the results obtained from the Study on strategic planning needs of sport in Andalusia, carried out for the Ministry of Education and Sport of the Andalusian Government (Exp. 07/2020). The objectives of the study consisted in determining the training needs, the priorities of scientific knowledge and the public policies required by the Andalusian sports system in the context of the epidemiological crisis of COVID-19. It was based on a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative), using the Delphi survey and the individual interview as data collection techniques. The sample was represented by agents of the Andalusian sports system (representatives of public administrations, universities, research centers, federations, clubs, professional associations, etc.), among whom a sample of 171 qualified informants participated in the survey and 10 in the interviews. The article analyzes the impacts derived from the epidemiological crisis of COVID-19 identified by the participants, as well as the measures proposed to mitigate them. Experts highlight, among the negative consequences, the economic impact on sport at all levels, the suspension or limitation of physical activity, the survival crisis in federations and clubs, and the increase in the gender gap during the pandemic. Regarding the positive incidents, they highlight the digital modernization of the sports system, the increase in social awareness of the need to do sports and, finally, the greater visibility of sports professionals.
