Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • In the case of sending the text to the peer evaluation section, the "International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation (IJERI)" journal to guarantee an objective, rigorous and transparent anonymous peer review system through an International Council of Reviewers and avoid their identity recommends that:

    1) The authors of the scientific manuscript have removed their names from the article, using "Author" and year in the references and notes at the end of the document, instead of the names of the authors, the title of the article, etc.

    2) With Microsoft Word documents, the identity of the author (s) must be removed from the file properties (File -> Save As -> Tools -> Remove personal information from the file properties when saving> Save).
  • The text has been included in one of the thematic lines of the magazine:

    • Thematic line I. . Pedagogical innovation and Quality in the University.
    • Thematic line II. . Education and Society: Innovations in the 21st Century.
    • Thematic line III.. Information and Communication Technologies in training contexts.
    • Thematic line IV. Education and Society: Innovations in the 21st Century.



  • The submission has not been previously published nor has it been submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments in the editor). 

    For this, it will be necessary to send the document on the declaration of authorship and originality to ijeri@upo.es

  • The work meets the following requirements:

    • Arial font, size 12, single spacing, complete justifications and no tabulations or carriage return between paragraphs.
    • Only large blocks (author, titles, abstracts, descriptors, credits and sections) will be separated with a return.
    • Footnotes will be placed together at the end of the document. The page configuration must be 2 cm. in all margins (lateral and vertical).
    • Manuscripts / articles must come in Microsoft Word format
  • The extension of the work meets the following criteria:

    • Research: (4.000/ 6.000 words, including references).
    • Theoretical studies:: (8.000/ 10.000 words, including references).
  • The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic conditions included in  Guidelines for the author,/a, in About the journal.

Author Guidelines

1. Thematic lines
The scientific journal "International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation" (IJERI), preferably admits research work on training, innovation and educational research. Theoretical studies and educational experiences are also accepted.
The thematic lines of «IJERI» are described below:

Thematic line I. Pedagogical innovation and Quality in the University. Innovative educational experiences, good practices, reflections, teaching and research contributions on educational praxis and quality improvement at the University.

Thematic line II. Education and Society: Innovations in the 21st Century. Reflections, experiences and applied research regarding Training, Education and Social Work at all educational levels. Sociocultural animation, community development, health promotion, improvement of people's quality of life, environmental sustainability, development cooperation, gender and equality studies, education and training of adults.

Thematic line III. Information and Communication Technologies in training contexts. The impact of Information and Communication Technologies in all training areas (formal, non-formal and informal) from all paradigmatic perspectives and approaches: reflections, experiences and research.

Thematic line IV. Education and Society: Innovations in the 21st Century. Reflections, experiences and applied research regarding Training, Education and Social Work. Sociocultural animation, community development, health promotion, improvement of people's quality of life, environmental sustainability, development cooperation, gender and equality studies, education and training of adult.

2. Contributions

The scientific journal "International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation" (IJERI) primarily publishes research results on training, innovation and educational research, written in Spanish, but also accepted in English.

Articles must be original, unpublished and of scientific relevance, and will not be presented simultaneously in any other publication. The acceptance of the publication of the article implies that the author or authors transfer the copyright to the editor of the IJERI  Journal. The Editorial Board understands that the opinions expressed by the authors are their sole responsibility. For this, it will be necessary to send the document on the declaration of authorship and originality to ijeri@upo.es

On the other hand, authors must provide references to similar works that have already been published, or are currently under consideration by another journal. If the work has already been presented in a communication (published tables, illustrations or more than 300 words of text, must be included), the authors must inform the editor of the journal «IJERI». Finally, the editorial team, if it deems appropriate, can apply plagiarism testing software to its manuscript during the editorial review process.

The contributions in the scientific journal "International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation" (IJERI), can be:

• Research: (4,000 / 6,000 words of text, including references).

• Theoretical studies: (8,000 / 10,000 words of text, including references).

The submission deadlines are:

• For the January publication: from January 1 to June 30.

• For the July publication: from July 1 to December 31.

Those originals received after the deadline indicated will go to the next number.

3. Presentation and structure of the articles

The works will be presented in Arial typeface, size 12, single spacing, complete justifications and without tabulations or carriage return between paragraphs. Only large blocks (author, titles, abstracts, descriptors, credits and sections) will be separated with a return. Footnotes will be placed together at the end of the document. The page configuration must be 2 cm. in all margins. The works must come in Microsoft Word format.

In the case of articles referring to Investigations, the manuscripts will strictly respect the structure presented below. Regarding the works related to the theoretical studies, it is possible to be more flexible also in its sections 2, 3, and 4. Section 6 is mandatory in all scientific works.

  1. Introduction: It must include the fundamentals and purpose of the study, using the strictly necessary bibliographic citations. It will not include data or conclusions of the work presented.
  2. Material and methods: It will be presented with the precision that is convenient for the reader to understand and confirm the development of the investigation. Where appropriate, the sample and sampling forms will be described, as well as reference to the type of statistical analysis used. If it is an original methodology, it is necessary to state the reasons that have led to its use and describe its possible limitations. The text provides information on whether the source data of the research is gender-sensitive, in order to allow for the identification of possible differences.
  3. Results: Efforts will be made to highlight the most important observations, describing, without interpreting or making value judgments, the observations made with the material and methods used. They will appear in a logical sequence in the text, the essential tables or figures, avoiding redundancy and repetition.
  4. Discussion: It will summarize the findings, relating the observations themselves with other studies of interest, pointing out contributions and limitations, without reiterating data already mentioned in other sections. The inferences of the findings and their limitations should be mentioned, including deductions for future research, as well as linking the conclusions to the objectives of the study, avoiding free statements and conclusions not fully supported by the work data.
  5. Authors' contribution: authors (in case of co-authorship) should indicate the level of contribution in each of the phases of both the research and the writing of the contribution. For this purpose, it is recommended to follow the CRediT taxonomy https://credit.niso.org/
  6. Funding: authors must provide information on the funding received for their research by indicating the funding agency, program and grant code.
  7. Notes: They will always go to the end of the article. The numbers of the notes are placed in superscript both in the text run and in the final note, being placed in the text before the closing point or comma. Notes that collect simple bibliographic citations (without comments) are not allowed, as these should go in the references.
  8. References: Bibliographic citations should be reviewed in the form of references to the text. Bibliography not cited in the text should not be included. Their number must be sufficient and necessary, and they will be presented alphabetically by the author's first name (adding the second only in case the first one is of very common use). Bibliographic citations should be extracted from the original documents - preferably magazines and smaller books - always indicating the initial and final page of the work from which they come, except for complete works. Given the importance for the indexes of citations and the calculations of the impact factors, the correct citation will be assessed according to these norms, valuing that there are references not only national, but also international and especially in the frank language, English . Here are some guidelines that should be followed by references in the articles submitted to the magazine "IJERI", which are specifically governed by the APA submission rules (www.apastyle.org).

4. Other annotations

The headings of the body of the article will be numbered in Arabic. They will go without a full case of capital letters, or underlined and without bold letters. The numbering must be a maximum of three levels:

At the end of each numbered section a carriage return will be established. No text should be underlined. Bibliographic citation, both in the discursive thread, and in the references is essential that it responds to uniform and constant criteria. This aspect is key in a scientific journal. Inconsistencies or alterations to the established regulations are not accepted. Please respect the numbering system: commas, points, and semicolons.

You have to check the text with the word processor dictionary, since although many erroneous terms are not detected, it does solve some problems automatically. To avoid the general error of marking with two or three spaces between words, you can use the Word search engine (edit / replace), pointing to find double spaces to replace one.

Tables: They must be presented incorporated in the text in Word format according to their order of appearance, numbered in Arabic and subtitled with an exact description of their content. They will be used to clarify important points, not accepting double documentation in the form of tables and figures.

Figures: The photographs, graphics or drawings should clarify the text in an important way and its number will be adjusted to the minimum necessary. They will be presented incorporated in the text, according to their order of appearance, numbered in Arabic and subtitled with the abbreviated description of their content. Its technical quality must respect the printing standards (300 dpi).

Abbreviations: Only universally accepted standard abbreviations should be used. (See Units Symbols and Abbreviations). When it is intended to shorten a term frequently used in the text, the corresponding abbreviation, in parentheses, must be accompanied the first time it appears.

Finally, remember that, if you are sending the manuscript to "IJERI", you must ensure that the instructions in Ensure a blind review have been followed.

 

Plagiarism Detection

The works sent by authors to the "International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation (IJERI)" journal will be submitted by the management to publications to Software SafeAssign and others.
