Arte efímero en las fiestas regias borbónicas en el nuevo Reino de Granada

Abstract

The European ways of celebration of important events occurred in the Spanish Royal Family (House of Bourbon) had their parallel in the Latin American territory. Triumphal carts, arches, tumulus, lights, object exhibitions along the house façades, theatres, games, music and dances were present to show signs of love and submission from the New Granadians to their King (Being the region of Colombia the object of this article). This text presents some examples of documents preserved by The General Archive of the Nation (Bogotá – Colombia) which mention artistic production of ephemeral art in celebrations of royal kind that decorated the streets of New Granada kingdom paying honor to the king and transmitting messages through symbolic elements.
