Abstract

This essay aims decode two keys to understanding chavism
as a social and political movement in Venezuela, namely, a particular
interpretation of history and several mythical resources from the religious
world. Research methodology is related to ethnographic analysis, discourse
analysis, documentary research and previous studies of followers of this
political and social movement. It is concluded that this form of chavism
refers to a type of political fundamentalism that is related to its environment
through a mythology based on the “Golden Age” and “mystical struggle
between Good and Evil”, which serves for political struggle and to generate
identity and cohesion among his followers.
